Kidical Mass ride a great success
On Saturday 14th June BCC welcomed over 50 riders to the first ever Kidical Mass event in Billericay. Families with children aged 5 to 12 met at Lake Meadows for a relaxed ride around Billericay town centre.
Kidical Mass events see families experience the freedom of riding their bikes in safety on the road, showcasing the great benefits in freedom, health and wellbeing. This is achieved by taking to the road en-masse, with marshals to guide the group, achieving a safety in numbers effect.
The weather was kind, as were the comments from a number of people who saw the group on the road and asked about the event. One of the Marshals said “It was a great atmosphere and it was particularly nice to see drivers being patient while we shepherded the large group through some of the junctions. I think they could see the importance of letting kids use the road safely.”
With over 50 people attending, the event was seen as a big success, with lots of positive comments coming from the families who attended and calls for more events in the future.
